Past performance cannot indicate future performance. Gains or losses in the market is unpredictable on smaller time frames. It is possible to either start during a run up and make money right away or start during a drawdown period. However, we see historically looking at the continuation strategy performance on a quarterly basis has a good statistical likelihood of obtaining profit in that timeframe. The continuation trade has been profitable year-over-year. Given more time to trade gives more likelihood of obtaining profit, yet having a mindset of quarterly or yearly profit with the continuation trade is a good mindset to have as you start this strategy.

As of now we have found that the strategy is not historically profitable during FOMC interest rate decision reports. The continuation trade is a trending strategy, and this report is one of the highest volatility reports that is released concerning interest rate projections. On these days we recommend turning the strategy off between 1 PM and 2:55 PM. Our analysis shows Excluding these days over the 12-year analysis period increases all the results of the continuation trade (above the posted results on this page).

There are a few economic report websites available today. We personally use www.fxstreet.com to view upcoming FOMC Interest rate decision reports and other high volatility reports release dates and times.

Answer.  Although your undivided attention is not needed to function, it is advised that the strategy is monitored the strategy several times a day. Connectivity issues, such as internet connection, computer settings, brokerage connection, power outages, or other unforeseen events may affect functionality. It is advised to check the strategy before the market opens, in the middle of the day, (to make sure the strategy is synced with the account), and before the market closes to ensure all positions are closed. This will normally take a few minutes each time. You can use remote viewing software and/or our email alerts function to stay informed about the strategies activity while you are away.

Data feeds are usually a small monthly cost that is charged to your brokerage account and provides the live and historical market data for back testing and sending live orders.
